278: Paraphernalia of Dubious Purposes

Dear Patrons,

It's been years that I have held the price of membership to what it's been, at $28 per month for DISCIPLE members and $8 per month for ACOLYTES. But with prices going up around the world, the value of my works seems undervalued while the shadow of inflation and this has pushed me to a decision to raise the suggested monthly patronage rate by a couple of bucks. So from this month forward, the default for ACOLYTE tier memberships will now be $10 per month while DISCIPLE tier memberships are raised to $30 per month.

But this won't hurt members who remain subscribed to me with the current patronage plan. You are locked in to the prices you've been paying. Call it a loyalty discount and thanks for your multiple months and even years of your support.

As for APOSTLE tiers and higher, the suggested rates of $50 and above will remain the same, and thanks you so much, the few and oh, so important individuals who almost single-handedly kept me going when general membership has stagnated due to the difficulty monetizing content of this sort.

Drawing by hand is a time-consuming task as I continue to hold back the temptation of delving into AI art, and I hope this is why many of you have supported me this far and with this increase, I will make a promise to earn that continued patronage with better works which I hope this current update will serve as an apt example.

I. TREE OF THORNS (1 colored artwork + 2 sketches free to the public, 4 fully colored artworks variations of 1 scene for DISCIPLE members or higher)

Made of tri-ply reinforced steel with a surface of aluminium for optimum heat conducting, this lot called the Tree of Thorns has been hand-crafted with world-class precision by master craftsmen to hold a weight of at least 250 pounds without permanent warping or bending. The design, though enigmatic does not immediately reveal an apparent purpose though one suspects that it is known only to its mysterious creator or the patron who has commissioned its making.

This work of art combines elements of a totem pole, a thorny roseless stem, a barbecue spit with all their forbidding sharp ends of many shapes and sizes, each angle, measurement, design and physics are optimized for balance despite its organic and asymmetric nature.

A curved pole at the center, seemingly impractical remains sturdy despite the asymmetry. The protuberances also serves a function that could have served as a hanging hook for jewelry though the downward pointing spikes does seem hapless for this purpose. The pole detaches at the centre of the curve into two parts, possibly for ease of transportation.

The fittings of the thorny sculptures too are also detachable as rings holding the leafed blades together, which themselves are as sharp and as strong as a Japanese-made folded sword may bend but will revert to its natural state.

The tray below may serve as an added display for more jewelry or various curios. Another possible use is one of an elaborate vertical rotisserie for consumption as the frame appears to be able to support an animal carcass with the tray's base collecting the oil and sauces dripping from the carcass. Ultimately, it's true nature remains unknown.

Three sketches, the first, being a display at a mysterious exclusive deli, the second, being the best seat of the house during a butchering performance at the abattoir, and the third, flipping the depilated bird before the stuffing.
